Abstract/Sommario: Kerala was exposed to many groups of Classic Pentecostalism from the early decades Of the 20. century. Later decades saw the mushrooming of initiatives all over the state, that resulted in a perplexing multiplicity of groups and diversity of practices. Kerala was exposed to many groups of Classic Pentecostalism from the early decades Of the 20. century. Later decades saw the mushrooming of initiatives all over the state, that resulted in a perplexing multiplicity of groups and diversity of practices. A general sketch of the major Pentecostal groups : Classical Pentecostalism (includes denominations like Assembly of God, The Church of God, Indian Pentecostal Church of God, Sharon Fellowship, the Pentecostal Mission. Today many of these have flourishing mission stations, with a vast array of Bible colleges to train Pastors and preachers. New Generation Churches, that is new Pentecostal Groups, share with other Pentecostals a belief in the 'baptism of the Holy Spirit' and the related gifts of the Spirit, such as speaking in tongues, healing, prophecy, but are not insistent on structures and boundaries. The late 1990's saw a proliferation of such independent churches, like Heavenly Feast and the Master Ministries. The Pentecostal Groups systematically visit families, carrying the Bible and related literature, invite individuals to local prayer-groups, preach at public spots, and organise large scale conventions to which all are invited. The general Catholic attitude towards Pentecostals is one of suspicion and antagonism. Pentecostals's aggressive propaganda, their luring way of many Catholics to their fold provoked a strong response of Catholic Church. Dialogue between Catholics and Pentecostals: a Utopia? The unique Kerala context does not seem to be conducive either to ecumenical dialogue or even to any creative interaction between the two groups
