Abstract/Sommario: Based on the many references to Jesus in the Qur'an and the traditions of Islam, the article suggests that Islamic teaching offers Christians a great deal of material upon which to build an effective Muslim-Christian dialogue. The study may be useful for workers seeking to help Muslims think more deeply and search more diligently for the Prophet and the Messiah, who is highly honoured in their scriptures but a virtual stranger in their midst

Abstract/Sommario: Throughout history and within a number of language communities, orthographies have enabled initial transcriptions of spoken languages. The paper examines the few cases in which a person from outside a language community devised a script for a previously unwritten language. In all the cases studies, the outsiders were Christian Missionaries. Among the eight cases presented are several common factors, and in all the cases, devising something unique for the community (rather than introduc ...; [Leggi tutto...] Throughout history and within a number of language communities, orthographies have enabled initial transcriptions of spoken languages. Among the eight cases presented are several common factors, and in all the cases, devising something unique for the community (rather than introducing something from the missionaries' own culture) was part of a successful strategy for church planting within these groups.
