Abstract/Sommario: Blessed Alphonsa is the first Indian woman to attend the status of the sainthood (12th October 2008). She was born on 19th August 1910 as the fourth child of Joseph and Mary Muttathupadath, in the parish of Kudamaloor, in the State of Kerala. She was baptized with the name of Anna. She had a vision of St Teresa de Lisieux whose life inspired her to become religious.
