Abstract/Sommario:
Fatima has not received an especially favourable treatment, either from Western Orientalists or even from some of the Sunnî writers. As best, she is presented as a rather vague and shadowy creature, perpetually bemoaning her lot, ever in tears over every little thing. While she certainly has a standing among the Sunnî transmitters of the Islamic Traditions - a number of them devote whole chapters to her merits and virtues- she remains nevertheless a neglected figure.
