The Constitution of the Republic of Korea was first promulgated on July 17, 1948. Since then it has been amended nine times , with the 27th October 1987 amendment being the last one. Modern Korean politics can be summarized as the confrontation between the 'industrialization generation' and the 'democratization generation'.
