Rethinking Belongingness in Korea: Transnational Migration, "Migrant Marriages" and the Politics of Multiculturalism

Abstract/Sommario: Beginning in the late 1980s there has been a constant and constantly growing inflow of foreign newcomers (primarily unskilled workers) to South Korea. In the space of less than two decades, from 1990 to 2007, the number of foreign residents grew from just under 50,000 to over one million (a 2,000% increase).
