Abstract/Sommario: Witchcraft and sorcery had, and continue to have, an impact on belief systems and values in many Melanesian societies: in most cases practices of sorcery are passed from father to son, or to the next best male (close kin). Witchcraft and sorcery had, and continue to have, an impact on belief systems and values in many Melanesian societies: in most cases practices of sorcery are passed from father to son, or to the next best male (close kin). The article dwells of three sorcers of Yapariningan Village, of Wantoat people in Morobe Province. The author had direct information about these cases. His conclusion is that the trend will continue for some time, until many of the children are educated or move out to live in an urbanised environment which may make them forget the traditional beliefs in witchcraft and sorcery
