Abstract/Sommario: Bangladesh, a labour surplus economy, considers sending its labourers in the overseas labour market as a good investment, as it reduces the pressure of the job market of origin, where currently around 30 million unemployed young people are looking for jobs. Abstract/Sommario: India's post-independence development plans have emphasized industrialization as a very important instrument for sustained growth. as a result, the annual growth rate of industrial production of aggregate industry is 7.8 %, which is little less than the country's overall economy growth in 2005- 2006.Within industrial sector, manufacturing plays an important role in country's economy (79,36% out of the total industrial sector in 2005-2006). Despite a steady growth over several decades, Indian manufacturing faces stiff competition from other developing economies in Asia , both in domestic as well as global markets. Enhancement of productivity is needed. the growth rate of money wage, product wage and real wage has declined in the period. The paper states that it is well documented that the mutually reinforcing phenomena of low productivity in manufacturing sector is the cause for low income. Low income in turn leads to low standards of living, which constitute the root cause for poverty and unemployment in the country

Abstract/Sommario: In Malaysia the oil palm and palm oil sector has undergone rapid development especially since the 1960s. The enhanced growth in demand and supply has raised concerns about the sector's impact on the environment in terms of climate change via deforestation, destruction of wildlife habitat and conversion of semi-forested native farmlands into oil palm plantations.
