The Author analyses his work "Aphorism of the Statesman", where the ruler of the virtuous city is characterized among the other virtues, by the 'boldly capability for jihad, and having nothing in his body that prevents him from carrying out the things pertaining to jahad. Alfarabi (d. 950) was a political philosopher. The Author analyses his work "Aphorism of the Statesman", where the ruler of the virtuous city is characterized among the other virtues, by the 'boldly capability for jihad, and having nothing in his body that prevents him from carrying out the things pertaining to jahad. Alfarabi visions a truly just and virtuous exercise of the art of war, not explicitly contemplated by his Greek predecessors. Consequently, the virtuous ruler, in his role of educator, may turn his armies against an 'ignorant' nation, whose leaders have failed to arouse in them the exercise of moral virtue. The philosopher thus rejects the 'holy war', not war in general
