Abstract/Sommario: Palestine witnessed a significant literary revival after the start of 20th century, generally known as "al-Nahdah" (meaning renaissance). The initial impetus of al-Nahdah was provided by the introduction of the printing press, the opening of missionaries schools, the establishment of newspapers and the growth of a nationalist movement which produced a rebirth of classical Arabic literature and a new wave of modern literature.
